How Invisalign Works If you are unhappy with crooked teeth and are looking for a solution, Caffaratti Dental Group offers an alternative to metal braces called Invisalign. This system contains a custom designed series of removable, virtually invisible, teeth straightening trays made especially for your teeth. As you wear these smooth plastic aligners, your teeth begin to move into position, providing you that perfect smile you desire. Since there are no uncomfortable metal braces to be constantly adjusted in office, you have the freedom to select the time and place you want to wear them. Having the series of aligner trays allows you to gradually move your teeth with little or no discomfort by changing them approximately every two weeks until the desired teeth straightening is achieved. Discover how each step in the Invisalign process works to achieve a confident smile. The Invisalign Consultation During the consultation, you and a dentist from Caffaratti Dental Group will discuss your goals for your teeth, smile and overall oral health. Options and treatment plans are always based upon you and your needs and budget. The cost of Invisalign and the projected completion date are reviewed with you so you have a clear picture of the treatment plan. At this time you are provided an opportunity to ask questions about Invisalign, costs, dental/orthodontic insurance, or any other concerns. What does Invisalign Treat? Invisalign can address crooked teeth and more complex issues of poor occlusion or improper teeth fitting. Dr. Caffaratti and Dr. Doucette help you determine if Invisalign is right for you. The Treatment Plan At Caffaratti Dental Group, we develop a treatment plan based upon the images of your teeth in their current shape and movements. This is accomplished by taking x-rays and impressions. Once completed, our dentists provide you a 3-D image of your teeth and discuss the treatment needed. Not only does this allow you to see the current state of your teeth, but also gives you a virtual representation of each stage of the treatment. What is the dentists’ role in the treatment with Invisalign? After the images are completed, our staff creates your custom clear aligners designed to fit your teeth and treatment plan. Unlike metal braces that can irritate and cause gum pain, these aligners are comfortable smooth plastic. You will be fitted with the initial set and instructed on placement of the remainder of the trays to be changed about every two weeks. As the treatment progresses, you will move through the series of aligner trays created to achieve your new smile. What is the patient’s responsibility in the treatment process? Your part in the process is easy and simple. As you wear them during the day, you have the freedom and flexibility to remove them to eat, brush and floss your teeth. Approximately every two weeks as your teeth gently adjust and gradually shift to their new position, you move to next set of aligners based upon your dentists’ instructions. The aligners are almost invisible and allow you more freedom and control than metal braces. For optimum results, you should expect to wear the aligners for twenty to twenty two hours per day. How long is the treatment process? Although every case is different, the typical adult course of treatment lasts approximately one year. For teens and more difficult cases, there may be varying time periods.
