Halloween season is here and it is time to ramp up your oral care!

  • Eat Halloween candy with meals or shortly after mealtime. Saliva production is increased during meals, helping to cancel out acids produced by bacteria in your mouth and rinse away food particles.
  • Avoid hard candy and other sweets that stay in your mouth for a long time.
  • Rinsing after eating sweets helps prevent cavities if you can’t get to a toothbrush.
  • Flossing is just as important as brushing your teeth, since in between cavities are the most common!
  • Fill up on fluoridated water, helping to fight tooth decay and keep you full so you won’t binge on sugary snacks.
  • Remember to brush twice a day and visit your dentist!
